Mohammed Kabir Umar
Mohammed grew up in Azare in northern Nigeria and worked as a journalist at the Bauchi State Radio and on a newspaper in Kano. He studied Political Science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria before he was expelled for political activism in 1981. Since leaving Nigeria he has gained post-graduate degrees in journalism from Moscow State University, in political economy from Middlesex University, and has studied law and international relations in various institutions in the UK. He speaks three African languages as well as Russian and English. He is married with three children and lives and works in London. Amina is his first novel.
